NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- In the midst of a nationwide bicycle shortage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a southern California-based electric bike company is launching a first of its kind design studio and showroom where customers can custom design their dream e-bicycles.  Electric Bike Company will open the state-of-the-art studio and virtual showroom in Huntington Beach on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

"We're in the middle of a bicycle boom like we've never seen before," said Sean Lupton-Smith, owner of Electric Bike Company. "Bikes are already a way of life here in southern California.  But as more and more people worry about using public transportation over concerns about the coronavirus, they're discovering electric bikes are not only the perfect way to get around, but also a great way to stay active," added Lupton-Smith.

At the design studio and showroom, customers will design their e-bikes on a computer.  Customers get to choose their favorite model and color, and then choose from a wide variety of accessories and upgrades.  Lupton-Smith says the potential for options is unlimited because various parts of the bike can be different colors, making each design truly unique.  The bikes are then handcrafted at a factory in Newport Beach using only the highest quality parts and materials sourced from nine countries, including the United States.

Sales of e-bikes around the world reportedly tripled during the months that quarantine restrictions were in place, as customer demand changed from leisure only use to daily use.

The Electric Bike Company Grand Opening Celebration will take place from 10am-4pm at the studio and showroom, located at 21501 Brookhurst St. in Huntington Beach.  Customers can take demo e-bike rides throughout the day on the Huntington Beach river jetty trail.  Beverages will be served and there will be giveaways for EBC products, as well as discounts on electric bikes through the month of July.
